11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. – Eccles and them man dere Nine Eleven

So as per previous chapters – here’s a remixed version of the sermon I did on ‘The Third Right’. There’s no video of me preaching (that you’ll ever see) so the notes are all in this blog. I also had to switch website hosting so the template has messed with a lot of previous blogs. I’ll clean that up soonish and apologies to anyone who’s had difficulty reading those. 🙏🏾
The third right
So now that you’ve seen those three words together twice, you’re probably wondering what on earth is this Nigerian donny on about?
It’s all about the mind. But first, we should tackle the first two rights.
time /tʌɪm/
- put in a particular position
- particular position, point, or area in space; a location. (You’ll notice how the words come together)
Good Ol’ Martin Tyler would often say ‘Cometh the hour, Cometh the man’. Which although sounds more like a bible reference, it’s not quite what we’re looking for.
You probably are familiar with the phrase: ‘Right place, right time.’ Although my passion for football has slowly faded like my tapered trim, there are always moments in sports that instantly pop up in my mind. Didier Drogba was a Premier League legend; someone I wasn’t a fan of because he used to treat my team like they didn’t deserve their weekly wage that Friday. But he was famously known for delivering when it mattered. Goals vs Bayern Munich. It was a time Chelsea had to score unless their dreams of winning their first European title would be over. You could argue (and very likely win) him being regarded as the greatest finals performer ever.
One blog this year?! it's a
It’s easy to look at luck, the three-leaf clover that we hold onto in a red society that is pretending to be green. And I’m a victim myself of saying ‘Good luck’ way more than I actually should.
Here’s a myth about luck: It doesn’t really exist.
When we work on our time then we rely on the world’s definition of chance, but God’s time never fails.
2For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it; – Habbakuk 2:3
The word vision is even more important here. Because a vision is pre-destined, it’s seen. And it’s seen through the eyes of God.
IT'S THE FUTURE I CAN SEEEEEEEEE 🎤
It’s God’s plan, – . It’s been game, set and match 🎾 from the jump 🏀. What we see as random, God saw it coming. There’s a reason why Jeremiah 29:11 reiterates that everything works as part of his plan. So those great moments we live in, are ordained by the one himself.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Sometimes it goes against everything people stand for
Esther was not supposed to be in the king’s palace because she was a Jew, but God had a different plan for her. It all started when Queen Vashti refused to dance for the drunken kings. Esther ended up in the palace for such a time as that to save a whole nation. She was at the right place at the right time. Esther is rated so highly even in modern understanding as a fearless women.
“If I perish, I perish, but I am going to see the king?” – Esther Four.
That's why your WCW's name is Esther ☕
Sometimes it might seem too big to happen (literally)
David’s older brothers were in Saul’s army. When David took them their lunch, he noticed that the Israelites were on one side of the mountain and Goliath was taunting them from the other side. David was at the right place at the right time to save the day by getting rid of Goliath so the taunting would stop (First Samuel Seventeen).
place /pleɪs/
- plan, schedule, or arrange when (something) should happen or be done.
When I was in school studying Business, they had this thing we needed to memorise that is the 4 Marketing P’s.
SPOILER: One of them is Place.
The Placement of a business, whether it’s online or its face-to-face has a direct impact on the success of a business. A gas station⛽ being on the motorway for example, whenever you’re low on petrol, feeling tired or hungry, it’s there.
It’s convenient.
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. – Hebrews Ten Twenty Five.
But there’s also the operational side of a place, is it close to the supplier? As Christians how close are we to his supply? Issa question.
Expect like a dozen more questions, it's to provoke thought ✍🏾
The Place you need to be must be aligned to God’s word, so it might not always be comfortable. If you look at John Four, the woman with the issue of blood. She found out where Jesus would be, and made sure she was in the perfect position to receive a miracle from him. If she’s not there, if she doesn’t try to get there, if she’s sitting at home… it doesn’t happen.
Are you in a place that God doesn’t want you to be? Your friends, work relationship, is it a divine placement? Does it edify God? Is it dangerous?
If your business is motivational speaking or coaching, your place of work is essentially you. Does God live in You?
The third right is your mind.
Is your mind in the right place?
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. – Roman Twelve Two.
The mind is a powerful tool, and even as huge comic hero fan.. the most overpowered heroes and villains, were the ones who could manipulate matter and reality using just their minds. The devil tempted Jesus at what looked like ‘the perfect time’, he tried to catch Jesus at a time when he had just fasted in the wilderness for 40 days and nights. A place and time that can easily break a human. Yet what the devil thought would be him weak, was actually him at his strongest mentally.
He won every challenge everything the devil threw at him no hesi. Because his mind was focused on above.
2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. – Colossians Tree Two.
If there are 3 takeaways from this word, it’s Train, Trust and Talk:
Train your spiritual mind 🦾
You got to start from somewhere. If you don’t feel healthy you take the first step into the gym or the random workout app you’ve got on your phone. It’s the hardest step because it’s the one that breaks into a new sense of faith and continually requires you to break the mold of doubt.
“Therefore, let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If you heard from the beginning abides in you, you will also abide in the Son and the Father.” – First John Two Twenty-Four.
Trust your spiritual father to guide your mind 🙏🏾
Esther had faith that God would give her the mind to withstand suffering, and David had the confidence that with the little he had, God will always protect and prosper him. Trust is a difficult thing, but ain’t no better deal than putting it in the Most High.
14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats[a]; do not be frightened.” – First Peter Three Fourteen.
Talk prosperous things into your life 🗣
Nathaniel Bassey Hallelujah Challenge has been going on at different points in the year. If you haven’t ever tuned into one of thems, honestly. Issa vibe.
Your African mum probably already does
At the end of each day Bassey always rounds off with a song that goes:
What we waited for, has come to pass. See what the Lord has done.
They sing this after going through a heavy session of praise and then prayer. Acclaiming the blessing before it’s manifested into a reality. Because that’s how faith works. Plus they’ve seen good things happen before to add to it. Whenever I’m fortunate enough to stand in front of brethren in my church, I love to take something from a bigman AKA Mr man from my secondary school.
He can't name the teacher for reasons that probably sounds more like waffling![]()
He told us in one assembly that whenever he wakes up, he looks in the mirror and speaks self-affirmations. Saying it over and over again. A routine that grows into a belief and in the long run – a lifestyle. With the training and trust, you’ll easily walk all the talk of the promises God has for you.
