Chronicles of a PK – One.

What if I call out, but itā€™s me youā€™re calling?

Soooooooooo

In the last 3 months or so I’ve had to do a bit of spiritual-searching, was unsure of my purpose ngl. Well I’ve found it, or when I can’t find myself, he’s got a way of finding me.

PK stands for Pastor's Kid, let's not confuse it with anything else

I was called to preach a couple of Sundays ago and I want to share that word with the world. So here are the notes of the preaching which I’ve extended into blog form. Stay blessed.

What if I call out, but it’s me your calling?

See often we cry out to God, we pick up our spiritual iPhoneā€™s or Samsungā€™sšŸ“±, and we call out and say

ezgif-4-14e164236363

‘God.’ ‘Help me. Goddd, can you do this for me? I promise Iā€™ll do this in return.’ šŸ“³

We constantly panic in the supermarket of our lives and ring up your saviour to come as you draw closer to D-Day, but the irony is that you actually end up treating God like a supermarket. You only have a call with your maker when you need him.

And to some extent, that’s perfectly fine. There’s many verses from Matthew 7:7 to Psalm 145:18. God wants us to call out to him in times of trouble, he’d much rather you call him than anyone else.

We sing songs, we call his name and ask that he comes and does what God always has, is and will keep doing. Being great, kind and merciful.

And contrary to carnal beliefs he will keep doing that, why?

ā€œI will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. – Genesis Twelve Two

For I know the plans I have for you,ā€ declares the Lord, ā€œplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah Twenty-Nine Eleven.

See the same way we look at the idea of love ā¤ļø, and Christ and why we should love God and others is because God loved us first. He called us first too. (1 John Four)

Heā€™s our father, right? Weā€™re children of God. (Two Corinthians Six Eighteen)

And with babies, or very little kids letā€™s say toddlers. They can get lost in public.

And in our walk with God we often get lost in the crowd that is the world. We’re in the world and now we become part of the congested, loud and scary world. So like kids when we feel weā€™ve been left behind, we call out and say

‘I want my mummy!’

Or with God we say ‘I want you God, my father to come and get me out of here! Get me out of the crowd of temptation, doubt, shame and insecurities. Get me out of difficult situations because Iā€™ve tried everything else and it just hasnā€™t worked!’

But even though we’ve always been seen as a child in the eyes of God, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room to mature.

A sign of progress in a spiritual walk comes when you pick up God’s call too ā˜Žļø. No one likes it when you know someone who constantly asks you for things, only for things to go silent when you try to reach out to them for something.

Iā€™ll tell you what though. Yet, in the midst of the crowd and the troubles heā€™s calling out to you. He wants to take the fear and pain away.

Matthew 14:22-32

God is the ONE who never leaves the ONE behind.

Even though one of the most highly anticipated miracle had just happened, Peter still had doubt. He even said if itā€™s you?

We look at the phone of our spiritual mind and… Godā€™s calling. We’re not sure whether to pick up. We donā€™t understand, because itā€™s hard271686945018211. So slowly, we become numb to the sound of his voice. He becomes a +44, and can even end up feeling like he’s a distraction.

Or sometimes we donā€™t even have the phone because it has been forgotten, thereā€™s so much bad reception, and we’re used to it.

God is calling you to leave

See how we looked at the promises that God gave to Abraham, but now we need to look at what he said even before that in verse one of Genesis Twelve –

ā€œGet out of your country,
From your family
And from your fatherā€™s house,
To a land that I will show you.

A lot of times we soak in the promises of Genesis Twelve two, but we often miss out on what God was telling Abraham to do at the time. By father it’s referring to his family and area.

What do you do when you have bad reception?30822-200.png

I find a reason to leave the room and walk as far as I need to do whatever I need to do on the phone. Regardless of who’s in the room with me.

You think I got time for you when I've booked time out for God?

But how much with God? I encourage you to take a look at your surroundings. Get yourself in a space to be where you can pick up his call, understanding what heā€™s saying. Want to be where he is. Youā€™ve got to be where he is. tashacobbs-e1574557176599.png

I'M GETTING READYYYYY READDDY FOR OVERFLOWWW

You’ve also got to have a friendship circle that doesn’t tolerate spiritual ‘cold calls’. There’s the famous saying in my church which was ‘Show me your friends, and I’ll show who you are’. Your friends and who you associate with reflects the kind of calls you pick up and the ones you don’t.

I’m trying to get this kind of mentality when temptation, insecurities comes knocking –

God is calling you to seek him

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. – Jeremiah Twenty-Nine Thirteen

When we seek God, we must seek him with all our heart.

From my heart to the heavens, Jesus be the center itā€™s all about you. Letā€™s not make calling God always a need, itā€™s a want that will automatically fix our needs.

It later says in verse fourteen that I will be found by you, of course you will be because God has always known where you were. How to call you. God knew exactly where Adam & Eve were even though they, in their minds thought it was possible to hide.

God called you first, because heā€™s always had your number.

He’s foreknown you before you even knew who you are. He knows when you don’t pick up, and he knows when you’ve eaten the forbidden fruit too. He offers mercy, love and grace regardless. He wants you to want to run to him. And to not let anything stop you from doing so.

God is calling you to serve

We all have a purpose in life. And especially in ministry. Regardless of what your role is. God has been lighting up your phone encouraging you to share the knowledge youā€™ve found in Christ to as many people as possible.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of Godā€™s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to Godā€”this is your true and proper worship. – Romans Twelve One NIV

This is the part where a lot of us go missing. We’ve dropped everything, we’re enjoying the first day of the work or school and then Image result for bam

and the dirt sin is gone!

Amen! But no… the reality kicks in. We don’t want to put the work in.

If you’ve been a Christian for a while and you’ve often found yourself a spectator in Church, maybe check your missed calls. God’s got an interesting plan for you.

Pray to know his purpose for your life. Because it’s nothing but good news for those who trust and obey.

God is calling you to follow

Bustttt the Lord’s prayerrrrr, Put your cross in the airrrr NOW SOW SOME SEEDSSSS – Guvna B

For those who were woke about this genre around the time, Funky House music was massive for me growing up. And what made it even better was that Christian Musicians were taking the unique sounds and using it to praise God.

It's more than music, it's ministry.

The legend that is DJ Mri made a Gospel Funky House mixtape 60 minutes long with all of the big tunes and skanks from that era. One song that stood out for me went like this –

All you gotta do is follow, followww, the father’s stepsssss šŸŽ§šŸŽ§šŸŽ§

Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.

To serve God in spirit and in truth you have to follow him. Like we spoke before you’ve got to be where he is. šŸ‘£

He has great plans for you, but it’s going to require some movement, but don’t worry. You won’t have to carry anything with you. Just have faith in him and he’ll see you through it.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, ā€œWhoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. – Matthew Sixteen Twenty-Four
